The following is also posted on Dr. Will Kirby’s laser tattoo removal blog: Quite frankly, yes, laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable. It’s important to remember that pain is very personal and everyone experiences it differently. Also, the good news is that there are a number of different means by which we make the process very tolerable: Prior to your treatment, you can numb the area with a high-power topical anesthetic cream mixture. Additionally, at my Dr. TATTOFF clinics, as we treat the area, we cool the overlying skin with our Zimmer Cryo 5 skin cooler, resulting in additional anesthesia. This device is used to minimize pain during laser tattoo removal by providing temporary topical relief. Always ask your clinic if they have a “Zimmer”.
