Have you ever noticed that when you wear a dark shirt on a sunny day, the shirt will get hot? That's because the sunlight is absorbed by the dark pigment (color) in the shirt. The pigment in a hair follicle is just like that shirt. It absorbs the light of the laser, becomes overheated and is permanently destroyed.
How does it work?
Hair growth stages
There are three phases in the lifecycle of a hair: growing (Anagen), falling out (Catagen) and resting (Telogen). At any given time, about 85% of your hair is in the Anagen phase. These are the hairs that the laser affects. During the Anagen phase, the laser can reach the follicle (also known as the dermal papilla), heat it up and destroy the hair permanently.
What areas can be treated?
Any area of the body except around the eyes can be treated. Treatments are fast, with most lasting anywhere from 1 minute to 1 hour depending on the area of the body that is being treated.
How many treatments are needed?
Generally between 7 and 9 treatments spaced 3 to 8 weeks apart will fully remove about 80% of hair in the treated area. The follicles that absorb the laser will likely never grow back. Some of the hair follicles may go dormant and could reactivate with hormonal changes or as the body naturally ages, but these hairs will be lighter, finer and less dense.
Why are multiple treatments needed?
Seven to nine treatments are needed because the laser affects only hair in the Anagen phase. Time is needed for hair in the Catagen and Telogen phases to move into the Anagen phase.
How does it feel?
Some people describe laser hair removal as feeling like a rubber band snapping on the skin, while others don't feel a thing. Before treatment, we recommend numbing the area with our topical anesthetic cream. In addition, our medical staff will make your laser hair removal sessions as comfortable as possible by adjusting each treatment to your individual needs.
How do i get the best results?

For laser hair removal to work, the hair follicle has to be present so that the laser can destroy it. The darker your hair and lighter your skin is, the better results you'll see from laser hair removal. During your course of treatment you should avoid the following:
