Our Laser System: Medlite C6

We use the most effective tattoo removal laser on the market: the Medlite c6.

The high energy, pulsed technology of the Medlite C6 allows the tattoo to be treated with minimal risk of scarring and less discomfort than other laser treatment. The state-of-the-art Medlite is the laser of choice for advanced tattoo removal.

Dark Ink Tattoo Removal
Wavelength: 1064 nm (infrared)

The Medlite's long wavelength, short pulse duration and high peak power combine to optimally destroy dark chromophores with a very low risk of permanent tissue damage. Research conducted by R. Rox Anderson, MD and Suzanne Kilmer, MD at the Massachusetts General Hospital showed the 1064 nm wavelength to be excellent in the removal of black and dark blue ink, even in darker skin. The longer 1064 nm wavelength significantly lowers the risk of hypopigmentation when compared to lasers in 600 - 800 nm range, while the short nanosecond pulse duration limits the tissue's exposure to heat build-up, therefore reducing the risk of scarring.

Red Ink Tattoo Removal
Wavelength: 532 (green)

Red tattoo ink is very common in professional tattoos. The 532 nm wavelength is ideal for the removal of red colored ink, which is typically resistant to removal with 600 - 800 nm light. Significant red ink removal has been demonstrated with just one treatment of 532 nm.

Green & Sky Blue Tattoo Removal Wavelength: 585 (yellow) and 650 (red)

Today many different colors are showing up in tattoos, creating quite a challenge for the physician when the tattoo is to be removed. The 585 and 650 nm wavelengths provided with the MultiLite Handpieces gives the physician more tools in his/her arsenal for treating these challenging colors. The 585 nm wavelength is used to treat sky blue inks, while the 650 nm wavelength is used to treat green inks.

Three Main Components:

The Medlite Laser System consists of three main components:

hoya conbio - laser medical procedures

Nd:YAG Crystal:

At the heart of all Medlite systems is the Nd:YAG (Neodymium Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) crystal. This solid-state material has been used for years in both the scientific and medical communities. However, the Medlite is uniquely set apart from the ordinary Nd:YAG laser in that it is Q-switched and Frequency Doubled.

Q-Switch:

The Q-Switch or Pockel Cell acts as an extremely high speed shutter which allows the Medlite to produce an extremely high energy (35 megawatts) short pulse (10 ns) of light to be released from the laser. The role of the Q-Switch is to prevent the absorbed light from the Nd:YAG rod from reaching the rear mirror of the laser cavity until it can store a large amount of energy.

Frequency Doubler:

The Frequency Doubler is a solid crystal which literally doubles the frequency of the light, thereby cutting the wavelength in half. This allows the 1064 nm to be converted to apure 532 nm wavelength, giving the Medlite two separate and distinct wavelengths in one laser system.

Cooling Closed Cycle Water to Air Heat Exchanger

The Cryo 5 Cold Air Device minimizes pain and thermal injury during laser and tattoo removal treatments.

The Cryo 5 Skin Cooling Unit is a mobile unit that cools room air to -32 degrees C. The air is then directed onto the tissue area via a flexible treatment hose. The skin cooling system designed for superficial aesthetic procedures.

The Cryo 5 Cold Air Device is intended to minimize pain and thermal injury during laser and dermatological treatments and for temporary topical anesthetical relief .

Unlike other  cooling methods such as contact cooling, cryogen spray or ice packs, the Cryo 5 can cool the epidermis before, during and after laser energy has been applied.

"I couldn't believe it was so easy and so painless." Medlite Patient
